We know that when children have a community of advocates, they blossom. St. Joe’s has been the lifeline for kids in the foster care system and has served over 75,000 children. Our impact has been significant, but there are still many kids who don’t have a place to call home. Here’s why your donation matters:

• More than 8,000 of our Kentucky youth are in foster care, and our state has one of the highest rates of abuse and neglect per capita in the country. With your donation, we can provide therapeutic services for kids in our residential treatment program and those in the community.

• “People always say they want to save the world, make it a better place, but talk is cheap. Actions matter. Seventy to 80% of the people who have been abused are going to repeat that same cycle of abuse, so if there is a chance you can break that cycle, you are making the world a better place.” – Joel Zipperle, a SJ parent 

• St. Joe’s provides free certified training for those interested in becoming foster parents. “The classes at St. Joe’s prepared us. There hasn’t been a situation that has come up with Arte that we didn’t address in some way in the classes. I never felt like we didn’t have the resources to be successful.” –Madeline Griffitt, a SJ parent 

• “St. Joe’s helped me realize that sometimes you don’t find the family immediately, but there’s always hope…adoption has changed my life by showing me that there’s something for you and you shouldn’t give up.” – Arte Griffitt-Trinkle, a SJ adoptee 

• Only 4% of foster care youth receive a college degree, and 20% of young adults aging out of foster care are chronically homeless. Our residential school addresses these alarming statistics by ensuring our kids get the guidance needed to be their best.
