When you work for St. Joe’s, you are more than an employee. You are a change-maker for the kids and families we serve. Read on to find out what others are saying about being part of the SJ team.

“Things happen, so whatever the staff might need for me to do, I do it.  My job is to make sure the CDC maintains the health and safety of our children. We [the staff] are a family, and I just love St. Joe’s. It feels like a second home to me.”

– Niela Cobble, Assistant Director of our Child Development Center

“I enjoy working with traumatized kids, because if I can be that safe adult for them, then that’s what I am going to be…a lot of times when kids come here, this is the first time they have been around a safe adult or have experienced trust, security, and healthy attachment.”

– Monica Morgan, Residential Training Coordinator

“I help kids process whatever they are going through. It could be trauma or an incident with another kid or it could be something they are dealing with that happened in their past. We try to get them to tell us what is wrong. We ask them ‘how can we make you feel better and get through this.’”

– Damon Clyburn, Youth Counselor

“Our teachers visit other centers who are doing best practices so that they can get a chance to learn from instructors who are passionate about their job.”

– April Manning, Director of our Child Development Center

I began my career at SJCH immediately after graduating with my Bachelor’s in social work. I had many friends from school working at SJCH, and they encouraged me to apply because of how much they supported students. While in graduate school, I worked as part of the direct care staff. I was very inspired by the impact of therapy on the children we work with, and decided to apply for the therapist position, when it became available.”

– Paige Cook, LCSW, Lead Residential Therapist
