Looking Back at 175 Years of Greatness

“For nine decades, the ladies of the Sewing Society have been a part of the Home’s fabric, always ready to volunteer, always there on picnic days and any other occasion where the mission of St. Joseph’s has called them to contribute.”

Looking Back at 175 Years of Greatness

“Without hysteria, 208 children ranging in age from 2-15 years, and 16 nuns, evacuated the building in less than two minutes. When the test came, these children were ready. They were not shaken, not flustered by the frightening obstacle of a chute upon which they had relied – a fire escape – cut off by flames.”

“Lulu has made us a better family.”

“She has taught us to find joy in the little things, because she finds joy in everything. We have come together as a family to support her needs and celebrate every achievement she makes.”

“I consider every kid to be my kid.”

“I enjoy helping kids and being a positive influence on them so they can be upstanding adults.”

“They may not be my blood, but in our situation, they are my children.”

Three years ago, Becky and Jason Weilage began the foster to adopt process through St. Joe’s because they wanted to make a difference in the lives of children who needed a family.
