Keeping families together starts with making mental health a priority. In 2020, St. Joe’s became a licensed Behavioral Health Services Organization which allows us to provide therapeutic services to kids and families within the community. Offering therapy services to the community gives families and children support to find healthy, safe and nurturing ways to communicate and interact with one another.
Our therapists are certified in trauma informed, evidence-based practices including Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Nurturing Parenting Program and other approaches.

During your first session, the therapist will ask certain questions about you and your life. This information helps your therapist make an initial assessment of your situation. These questions include things like why you sought therapy and what you are hoping to achieve. You will also be asked about your personal history and other issues affecting your current life circumstances. For children we typically only meet with parents during the first session unless your child is comfortable speaking about the presenting problem.
Sessions are approximately 50-55 minutes in length.
If you need to make a change to your appointment, please contact your therapist by phone or email directly. You may also email bhsoinfo@sjkids.org. Our office policy is that all cancellations and reschedules must be 24 hours before the scheduled appointment to avoid an attendance appointment. Lateness of 15 minutes or more will be considered a ‘missed appointment’ or ‘no show’.
We require both parents to sign the consent paperwork forms for the children and adolescents we see. Both parents do not have to be present for sessions and all paperwork can be completed online.
