AUGUST 7 & 8, 2020

FRIDAY, 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm & SATURDAY,
Noon - Midnight

St. Joe’s Picnic For the Kids would not happen if it weren’t for the thousands of Picnic volunteers who show up each year to help raise needed funding for St. Joseph Children’s Home, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency. For multiple generations, families and friends have donated their time and efforts to support Kentucky’s most vulnerable children. By signing up today, you will not only have tons of fun but most importantly, you will make a direct impact in a child’s life.

Is there an age requirement?

No! We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available for individuals and groups of ALL ages and sizes. Children under the age of sixteen must be accompanied by an adult. St. Joe’s is fortunate to have many families who have volunteered at Picnic for multiple generations. Start your volunteer legacy today by signing up!

What opportunities are available for individual volunteers?

Individuals can volunteer to work in gaming booths, in the Chicken Dinner area, to be a Zone Leader, to help with Picnic setup, to help with clean-up after Picnic or to be a General Picnic Volunteer and work wherever help is most needed on Picnic Day. Visit our on-line volunteer sign-up page for details and to register for a volunteer slot.

What opportunities are available for groups?

Groups from businesses, churches, schools, organizations, or families and friends can volunteer in the Chicken Dinner area, to help with Picnic setup, or to help with clean-up after Picnic. Visit our on-line volunteer sign-up page for details and to register your group for a volunteer slot. The group leader can register the whole group by indicating the number of volunteers in the group.

The most popular activity for groups is to run a booth.

Gaming and activity booth options are available for groups of all sizes/ages. Groups who volunteer to run a booth will be recognized on the booth sign as the Volunteer Sponsor.

What is Volunteer Sponsorship?

Volunteer sponsors provide the people power for a picnic booth. All volunteer sponsors are recognized as VOLUNTEER SPONSOR on the booth sign.

How many people are needed to “power” a booth?

It can vary by booth size, but the average number needed for a Small booth is 7-8 people per shift. A Large booth can use up to 12 people and a few special booths can be run with only 2-3 people.

What do I need to know to sign-up my group to run a booth?

If your group would like to run a booth at the Picnic, please contact our Picnic Coordinator, Pam Stone at 502-893-0241, ext. 262, or via email at pams@sjkids.org to review available booth options. Please be prepared to answer the following questions:

Approximately how many people will be in your group?

If children are in your group, what are their ages?

Which one of the following time periods is your group available to run your booth:

  • Friday 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM AND Saturday Noon – Midnight
  • Friday 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Saturday Noon-Midnight
  • Saturday Noon – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday 5:00 PM – Midnight

Is it possible to be a Booth Sponsor AND a Volunteer Sponsor?

ABSOLUTELY! We have several groups that already do just that! You will be recognized as BOTH on your booth sign. Connect with us and we’ll help you get started on sponsoring a Picnic booth.
