In an effort to achieve St. Joe's mission of "Giving Children a Home," we will highlight St. Joe's kids who are still waiting to find their forever families and need your help!

St. Joe's first Adoption Spotlight is "Stephen" who has been living at St. Joe's for three years and has been waiting to be placed in his forever home. Stephen is nine years old and is a victim of fetal alcohol syndrome. He was removed from his parents care at a very young age. His adoptive mother died in 2012, when Stephen was five years old, and he was placed back into the state's care. Stephen's adoptive father later terminated his parental rights and has no contact with him at all.

Stephen has intellectual and physical delays due to his trauma as well as behavioral health issues. His feet do not align well and he struggles some in walking. When Stephen arrived at St. Joe's he could not communicate well. Because of his traumas, he developed a very over-active imagination and has created a special private world to live in.

Stephen has made so much improvement while living at St. Joe's and does great at school! He speaks well and continues to show progress with his communication skills.

Stephen loves St. Joe's and the staff cares deeply for him. The other kids also love him and want to take care of him. He loves to be in the swimming pool and is able to ride a bike thanks to his staff and fellow peers teaching him how to do so! He loves bugs, animals, and super heroes! He has made so much progress at St. Joe's.

All Stephen really wants is a family to love him and take care of him. Stephen has lived a St. Joe's for too long and really needs to be in a family environment.
