Please note that there is a $10 background check processing fee for all volunteers prior to beginning services. Here are some of the volunteer opportunities available at St. Joe's:

Fill out the Volunteer Questionnaire. As soon as your application is received, it will be forwarded to the person in charge of the program with which you would like to volunteer. Joann Childers is the Residential Activities Coordinator in charge of mentoring children or donating time to the agency. This day care program serves 130 children, ages 6 weeks through preschool. Many high school students earn their service hours through the CDC. Please be aware that there is a 3-6 month wait to volunteer in this program, and that all volunteers must have a Background Check at their own expense.

Our Bargain Barn is a store located on-site at St. Joseph Children's Home. It is similar to a Goodwill Store; we accept all items and sell them back to the community, with proceeds going to benefit St. Joe's children. Volunteers are needed to work from 9 AM until 12 NOON on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Volunteers are needed to work in the administrative office and also in the Foster Care Resource Room.

Volunteer quilters work Mondays and Wednesday from 9 until 2, and on Tuesday evenings. If you don't know how to quilt, expert quilters will teach you.

We welcome volunteers who can complete physical plant projects, i.e. civic, business and school groups that are able to help us maintain our building and grounds.

Volunteers are needed at the annual St. Joseph Children's Home Picnic held in August. Opportunities include working in raffle booths, and also to serve guests in the Fried Chicken Dining Room. Typically, volunteers work in shifts of several hours of time. Again this is the perfect time for students to earn service hours or for businesses to complete community service projects.
